Barry Warns of “Civil War” Over Gay Marriage
“All hell is going to break lose,” Barry said while speaking to reporters. “We may have a civil war. The black community is just adamant against this.”
The specter of black men and woman protesting the legalizing of gay marriage strikes me as obscene. Maybe they don’t remember that as late as 1967 some of our southern states had laws forbidding interracial marriage.
These bans were supported by many clergy of that time, and they could quote you biblical verse seeming to condemn mixing of the races. The Supreme Court saw fit to drag these backwoods bumpkins into the 20th century.
Here, Let me fix that for you.
What is even weirder is their moral spokesman is Marion Barry who had a short but popular reality TV show, “Toking with Barry” where he smokes crack with his “Girlfriend” and the undercover FBI men. Marion Barry’s administration was plagued by scandals and rumors. His womanizing and partying prowess was legendary. Not exactly a good example of family values.
Said Barry:
“What you’ve got to understand is 98 percent of my constituents are black and we don’t have but a handful of openly gay residents,” Barry said. “Secondly, at least 70 percent of those who express themselves to me about this are opposed to anything dealing with this issue. The ministers think it is a sin, and I have to be sensitive to that.”
Well gee Marion, your race only makes up 10% or so of the American population. If we handed out rights based on popular vote you would still be picking cotton instead of pimping your political standing to a bunch of loud mouth bible bigots.
