Automotive art for a parking lot. It’s hard to say if these cars are sinking into the parking lot or rising out of it. In the 70s this was part of an art installation In your typical suburban shopping mall called Hamden Plaza in New York.

Unfortunately the ravages of time and the wheels of countless skateboarders had cause the interesting display to deteriorate to the point of having to be returned to it’s original purpose sometime around 2003.

Oil Painting: Lewis Hamilton rendered in used Mobil 1

Commissioned by ExxonMobil from artist David Maculuso, who has been painting with recycled motor oil for several years.

Bring a entire new meaning to oil painting.

My question would be is Mobil 1 a REAL oil. After all it is a synthetic motor oil. Would a painter who paints in organic motor oil look down on this fancy NEW art material? As did painters who work in traditional oils when exposed to modern acrylic paints? As did artist who work in modern acrylics when exposed to digital art?
