Wacom 6D "Brush" Pen

Being a born tinkerer, I can never leave good enough alone. For those who are aware Wacom makes a pen for their line of pressure sensitive tablets called the 6D Pen Like the traditional pens that come with the Intuos tablets it can sense pressure being applied to the tip, as well as tilt and bearing. As an added feature the 6D pen can sense Rotation and control some of the brush strokes by rotating the pen in your fingers.

I had always thought this feature was much like using a traditional flat paint brush rather then a round brush. paint a broad stroke with the flat end and for thin strokes turn the brush to its thin side. The 6D pen can be setup to do this quite well but it does not feel like a brush in your hand and I wanted the tip to be flatter and not angular.

I noticed I had a real brush that was exactly the same width as the felt tip nib that comes with the 6D. I found the idea of having a pen that had an actual bristle brush end intriguing and so with a little cutting and gluing....

This was not a new brush and was a little on the stiff side, and I think I will find a new softer brush of the appropriate size when I get a chance, just to play with the feel of stiffer v softer.

I cut the top of the brush off and glued that to the pen to make it longer and more like a real brush. I feel the pen itself is too thick, It may be the inner workings of the pen can be removed and re-encased into something less bulky but I have not gotten up the nerve to open the pen yet.

Both the end of the pen and the nib had to be cut down to accommodate the brush tip.
